OUR HISTORY

Since its establishment, the School of Communication, Information Technology & Signals (SCITS) has been a cornerstone in building the UPDF’s capacity in modern communication and digital warfare. Guided by discipline, innovation, and professionalism, the school has grown into a center of excellence, equipping officers and militants with the knowledge and skills to ensure secure, reliable, and advanced defense communication for the nation.

The School of Communication, Information Technology and Signals (SCITS) is a military training institution under the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF),Communication Information Technology and Signals Branch (JS CITS).It was established to build capacity in the fields of defense communications, cybersecurity, IT systems, and signals intelligence.

Located in Uganda, SCITS plays a strategic role in enhancing the UPDF’s operational effectiveness through specialized training that integrates military discipline with modern technology. The school equips personnel with the knowledge and technical skills necessary to support and protect Uganda’s defense communication infrastructure.

Our graduates serve with distinction across UPDF units, government ministries, regional security forces, and peacekeeping missions, contributing significantly to Uganda’s and East Africa’s security architecture.

At SCITS, we believe that excellence in military communication and information systems is a cornerstone of national and regional security. We are committed to preparing the next generation of technical leaders who will defend Uganda’s sovereignty in both physical and cyber domains.
